After having to cancel our last Data Science Meets OBIA Workshop planned for Vilnius, Lithuania due to the COVID-19 outbreak and resulting travel restrictions, we are please to announce that we have alternative. We are working with our regional channel partner, TerraNor, to invite you to attend the eCognition Developer Data Science Meets OBIA Workshop ONLINE. The Workshop will be held in from 13:00-16:00 (CEST) May 26-27 & June 2-3, 2020.
In 2019, TerraNor, together with the University in Bergen, processed and analysed the Hordaland (now Vestland) and Trøndelag counties in Norway with eCognition Developer. They used all Object-based Image Analysis (OBIA) functions, machine learning and deep learning together with special analysis functions like tree counting and filter techniques. They demonstrated to the Norwegian government that they could analyse all forest areas in a large county within 5-days.
We want all our customers to learn about the new tools that have been introduced to eCognition over the past few years.
This course will take place over a 4-day period (3-hours each day) and is designed for existing eCognition users that want to explore the field of machine learning and OBIA in more detail. This means that a basic understanding of eCognition and rule set development is highly recommended for this course.
Participants will be provided with a general introduction to machine learning approaches within eCognition (supervised classification / template matching / deep learning [CNN]). Subsequently, the course focuses on how to leverage these implemented machine learning functionalities and connect them with OBIA methodologies for an even more powerful analysis. During this course, attendees may bring their own data to test and discuss the presented approaches on during a dedicated time slot.
The goal of this workshop is to provide attendees with knowledge about machine learning functionalities within eCognition. How to implement such functionalities in a rule set and combine them with OBIA for a more robust analysis capabilities.
We will show through examples how to analyse various data sets in eCognition Developer. Practical examples will include new machine learning procedures. There are several functions that people are not aware of like tree counting with use of lidar / laser or optical images and raster filters to find ditches. We will include one lesson that goes through these special analysis functions.
Prerequisites & recommendations
We recommend that participants have a solid understanding of remote sensing, GIS procedures and components as well as familiarity with image analysis. Participants should have familiarity with the eCognition Developer software and rule set development. Each participant is responsible for bringing a laptop that meets the eCognition system requirements. We will provide software and license for the training.
Binding registration before May 5th. After this date we will not refund the training fee.
Time: 13:00-16:00 on May 26-27 & June 2-3
